My shoe crushes the remains of a glass bottle, a loud sound ricochets from the house wall nearby. Claudia complains that I shouldn't scare her. For hours we're standing in front of this almost cubistic looking apartment block that sits here empty and lifeless for years now. Claudia picked it for our architecture assignment with the large format camera. I just triggered the shutter and after long discussions and settings the fourth picture of the day is shot.
I take a second step, carefully trying not to have shards of glass, model cars, hat boxes or whatever you can find in front of this apartment block under my shoe. With cold, gloved hands I reach for my camera that waited for me safely sitting in a suitcase.
Click. Finally I was able to capture the interesting combination of the emptied apartments and the lush green bush in front of it. It caught my eye pretty much from the start just when we were setting up the large format camera for the first picture.
